The CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE, the world's first 23,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent) vessel powered by liquefied natural gas, entered the fleet on September 22. It is the new flagship of the CMA CGM Group, one world leader in transport and logistics, and the first in a series of 9 container ships flying the French flag. These ships, qualified as Ultra Large Container Vessel (ULCV) by their exceptional dimensions (400 meters long and 61 m wide) require special training of their crew for docking maneuvers.
All captains and second captains will receive additional training, carried out at the training center of the company Artelia in Port Revel in Isère. Carried out with the ULCV Spirit of Port Revel, a 1 / 25th scale model of these sea giants, this training allows you to practice training exercises in normal and / or emergency situations using the engine, rudder and the anchors of the ship as well as harbor and escort tugs.
The team of Artelia/Port Revel is proud of having contributing to the world wide maritime safety since 53 years.
