Currents - Lake of Port Revel
Currents are a main feature at Port Revel as 3 days out of 5 in the Ship handling Course are conducted with currents: 2 days with clockwise current and 1 day with counter-clockwise current.
It can be seen above that about half of the lake is subjected to currents, i.e. currents are not confined to a small area where no manoeuvres can be done, or to the canal.
Currents reach speeds of up to 3 kn near the piers at the south and the north of the lake, and up to 1 kn in the canal.
Most of our docking exercises are done with current ahead, astern or abeam.
